1. Story. 579 After the death of her husband, Mary McPherson continued to keep house with her daughter Abigail. She sometimes visited her son Joseph in Stokes Co, NC. She was probably not a member of the Society of Friends, but many times stated that she "listened to the good Quaker in her breast." She was noted as a midwife, often riding 15 miles to a case. She was more than six feet tall and of remarkable strength. It was claimed that she could lift a keg of cider or two and a half bushels of wheat. She died of cancer on her face on 27 Oct 1813 in Chatham Co.
2. Story. 1423 Mary Green, wife of John McPherson, daughter of John and Abigail Green of Yorkshire, England. Died 27 Oct 1813 in Chatham Co, NC, buried Muddy Creek Cemetery, Chatham Co.
