2. Story. The names of the children of John Pickering, who married Hannah Awes, have been ascertained from his will, which was proven 2-mo. 26, 1785. By his will the original 200 acares were divided by a "line from Henry Paxson's land, along the road to Benjamin Eastburn's land." The north farm was left to his son John Pickering, Jr., who had married Rachel Duer in 1771, while the farm on the south side of the road was left to his son Jesse Pickering, who had married Ann Kemble in 1774. John Pickering also had a daughter, Hannah, who had married Jonathan Johnson in1778, to whom he left a legacy of 100 pounds in silver or gold, to be paid by his two sons, John and Jesse. 1. Appearance in Document: Intention to marry, 26 Dec 1744, Goshen Mtg, Chester County, Pennsylvania Colony. 8045 At our Monthly Meeting held in Gwynedd the 26th day of the 12th Mo 1744/5. John Pickering & Hannah Dawes declared their intentions of Marriage with each other the first time. He is desired to produce a Certificate of his Conversation & clearness from the Meeting he belongs to, in order to make way for their further proceeding at our next Meeting.

2. Appearance in Document: Intention to marry, 26 Jan 1744/45, Goshen Mtg, Chester County, Pennsylvania Colony. 8046 At our Monthly Meeting held in Gwynedd the 26th day of the 1st Mo 1745. John Pickering & Hannah Dawes declared the continued their intentions of Marriage with each other. His Certificate from Buckingham Monthly Meeting was read, which gave a good account of his sober and orderly conversation & clearness, and nothering appearing to obstruct they are left to their liberty to consumate their said intentions of Marriage.
