4. Obituary: Observer-Dispatch, 1 Sep 2007, Utica, Oneida County, New York, United States. 4913 Catherine Wereszynski, 91, of Utica, died on Thursday, August 30, 2007, at the Siegenthaler Center. She was born in Utica on November 25, 1915, the daughter of Anthony and Victoria Cieslak Dziechciowski, and attended local schools. On September 30, 1939, she was married to Vincent (Red) Wereszynski in Holy Trinity Church, a loving union they shared for over 63 years. He died in 2003. Catherine was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Sacred Heart Society, West Side Seniors, and The Polonaise Seniors. Her survivors include a daughter, Judith Dzenis of Camillus and her special friend, Thomas Prucker of Liverpool; two sons, Paul A. and his wife, Karen Wereszynski of Kingston, and Leonard and his wife, Leeanne Wereszynski of Utica; two sisters, Veronica and her husband, Anthony Kwiat of Whitesboro, and Elizabeth Gorczynski of New Hartford; two brothers and their wives, Adolph and Elizabeth Jeff of Rochester, and Louis and Jess Jeff, also of Rochester; also included are her five grandchildren, Aaron and his wife, Stacia Brundage, Mark and his wife, Aimee Brundage, Stephen Brundage, Kathleen and her husband, Sean Murray, and Michelle and her husband, Michael Brenes; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Madeline Uskowski and Irene Sutkowski; and her brothers, Caz Jeff and Walter Jeff. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 10:00 at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Avenue, Utica, and at 10:30 at Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Catherine's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the first floor of the Allen Calder Unit of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, and also to Siegenthaler Center for the excellent care she received. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Holy Trinity Church Memorial Fund, 1206 Lincoln Avenue, Utica, NY 13502, and to the Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
