2. Property, 13 Oct 1838, Montgomery County, North Carolina, United States. Jesse, William, and Miles Haywood purchased land in Montgomery Co NC from Azariah W Chambers, 252 acres on west side of Little River, "a part of several tracts" on the West side of Little River in Montgomery County joining J and F Martin and Estate of Howell Harris, Jr, deceased. (p381-2 of Montgomery Co Deeds 1838-1842 book)

First tract is 45 acres on Dison Creek of Little River, bordering Martin, Martin road, and crossing the creek. Second tract is 5 acres bordering south bank of ditch and Martins line. Calvin W Wooley was appointed commissioner to sell negroes belonging to W W Smart and others at Edinboro in Montgomery Co. Miles Haywood was highest bidder for negro girl named Julia Ann, about eleven years of age, for $450. (Montgomery Co Deed book 16, p446)

Deed from Miles Haywood and wife Mary Priscilla to Thomas L Winslow, for $10, all interest in the proceeds of the sale of the lands of John Green deceased under a decree of the Court of Equity of Montgomery Co in the case of Wincy Green and others ex parte. James T Townsend and wife Mary A Townsend of Cumberland Co sold 202 1/16 acres to Miles and William J D Haywood of Montgomery Co for $2500. Land was in Cumberland Co on East side of Cape Fear River, bordering Charles McAllister's corner, N "to the farther edge of the [?] swamp", John Bruton's corner. This was part of a 400 acre tract patented by Benjamin Hillyard on 15 May 1735. (Cumberland Co Deed book 60, p451) [Note that Mary A Townsend is Miles's neice, and John Bruton is husband of Miles's neice Lucy Jane Bruton.]
