She was born in Union County, NC on July 2, 1914. Mrs. Reid was a retired employee of Springs Industries, a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and during World War II, she served on the Rations Board in Monroe. She was an excellent seamstress and made beautiful clothes for her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William T. McCain, her second husband, Bradley S. Reid and her son, Lt. Col. William Thomas McCain, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia M. Devereux of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Carolyn McCain; four grandchildren; Michelle Thompson, Shawn McCain, Kim McCain and Tonya Devereux Clontz; and three great grandchildren. A special 'Thank You' to the staff of Pineville Rehab and Living Center for their loving care given to Mrs. Reid. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 5300 Nesbit Rd., Waxhaw, NC 28173. Gordon Funeral & Cremation Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 is caring for the Reid family.
