10. Story. Benjamin Samuel Reeder (Rev.) was born about 1823, Chesterfield Co, SC, died 15 Feb 1889, Mecklenburg Co, NC, buried at Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Mecklenburg Co, NC. Was son of William Reeder [not sure why author says this. William would be 60 yrs old when Benjamin is born]. Benjamin Samuel Reeder and family must have moved to Union, NC around 1859. Tombstone states he was born February 15, 1821. Married Rossanna Lee about 1848, Chesterfield Co, SC. Children were Joseph Samuel Reeder, Sarah L. Reeder, Mary Emily Reeder, Benjamin C. Reeder, James H. Reeder, William Richard Reeder, Albert B. Reeder, Martha Ann Reeder, Thomas F. Reeder, and Lee G. Reeder. In the 1870 census, Benjamin C. Reeder and James H. Reeder were left off the census. This probably means that he was a hired hand on another farm. 1878 Minutes of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church (Union Co, NC), part of Brown Creek Association, list the pastor as P.S. Reader (should this read "B.S. Reader?). (http://creeder.taylordata.com/TheReeders/)

11. Occupation: Mission Baptist Clergy, Farmer.

12. Religion: Baptist.

13. Story. I have traced my family to Benjamin Samuel Reeder born 2-15-1821 in South Carolina. He married Rosa Ann Lee in Whiteplains, Chesterfield Co., SC. He died 2-15-1889 in Mecklenburg Co., NC. Rosa Ann Lee was born 1-08-1827 in SC and died 5-06-1887 in Mecklenburg Co., NC. There first son was Joseph Samuel Reeder bron 11-11-1849 in Chesterfield Co, SC and died May 29, 1925 in Goose Creek, Union Co, NC. (Posted on Reeder Genforum by Chris Reeder (creeder@taylordata.com) on January 19, 1998)

14. Story. This site is to document the Rev. B. S. Reeder line of which I descend. Ben was a Baptist preacher. He was born February 15, 1821 in Chesterfield Co., SC. He married Rosanna Lee of Chesterfield Co., SC. She was born January 8, 1827. She was the first child of Samuel and Lavinia Jones Lee. They were from Darlington Dist, SC. Rosanna was raised near present day White Plains, in Chesterfield Co, SC. Benjamin was from right down the road near Jefferson. Benjamin's dad was William Reeder. I do not know where he came from. He shows up for the first time in Lancaster Co, SC on February 27, 1794 when he bought land from Benjamin Haile for 10 sterling on the east side of Gills branch. It was 200 Acres above Catey Bridges old place. Witnesses were: Richard Hunley, Peter Andrews, and Susanna Phillip. I have felt for some time now that my Reeder line was from Maryland or Virginia. Benjamin and Rosanna moved to Mecklenburg between 1858 and 1860. I have yet to figure out why, but a ton of other families moved too. They seemed to locate near Clear Creek, Mecklenburg Co, NC. Ben died February 15, 1889 and Rosanna died May 6, 1887. They are both buried in Clear Creek Cemetery along with lots of descendants. Namely my line; Son Joseph Samuel "Sam" Reeder, Grandson Henry Samuel Reeder. I have three generations of Reeders burried in the cemetery. Other family and Chesterfield lines buried with them are Ferguson, Long, Mullis, Blackmon, Estridge, Ogburn, Pigg, and several others. Benjamin was the pastor of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church in 1878. This was found in the Minutes of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, part of the Brown Creek Associations. I have been unable to find Ben's obituary in the Biblical Recorder, Charlotte News, Charlotte Herald Daily, or Mecklenburg Times. Could not find Rosanna's obituary in the Charlotte Herald Daily. Children of Benjamin Samuel Reeder and Rossanna Lee are Joseph Samuel Reeder, Sarah Lavinia Reeder, Mary Emily Reeder, Benjamin C. Reeder, James H. Reeder, William Richard Reeder, Albert Reeder, Martha Ann Reeder, Thomas F. Reeder, Lee G. Reeder. (posted at creeder.taylordata.com/Reeder-BenjaminSamuel.htm on 22 April 2001)
