1. Census, 1850, Chatham County, North Carolina, United States. Jos P Foushee is 23, farmer, real estate value 75, living with Frances (25) and James L (2). Next door is Nancy J Fooshee, 47, real estate value 500, with Robt (20, school teacher), Mary H (15), and Nancy W (13). Next to them is Polly Fooshee (55, real estate value 100), with Betsey (50, real estate value 100), James S (14). Next to them is Wm K Brooks (34, farmer, real estate value 500), with Elizabeth (26) and family. Living with them is Elizabeth Fooshee (61). (Chatham Co, Upper Regiment, p425)
2. Story. 1539 Born 1827 if he is correctly identified in the 1850 Census. This name is listed in both Mann and Stewart family records as a brother of Cornelia Frances Foushee, but Joseph Foushee is not named in the Will of Thomas Farrar. The 1850 Census lists a household consisting of Joseph Foushee, age 23, Frances Foushee, age 25, James L Foushee, age 2. The will of Thomas Farrar specifically limits inheritance to those children of Rebecca Farrar Foushee who were living in Sept 1851 . The Census record and the will are compatible if it is assumed that Joseph Foushee died between the spring of 1850 and Sept 1851.
3. Occupation: Farmer.
Joseph married Frances UNKNOWN. (Frances UNKNOWN was born about 1824.)
