2. Property, 4 Nov 1837, Bladen County, North Carolina, United States. George Downing will mentions "my beloved son George W Downing". He is to receive, after the death of George's wife, "the plantation and dwelling houses whereon I now live or reside with all my lands which lie between R B Coorly branch and Briary Branch with the exception of one neck of land on the swamp side called the Calf Pasture it containing one hundred acres called the Old Hundred lying on both sides of the Branch" and "all on the other side of Briary Branch and is lying above the road one hundred acres whereon the Dwelling House stands. Patented by William Davis and a part of a hundred and fifty acre tract patented by Jesse Davis".

There is an Ann Downing listed as head of family, which may be her. The family has one M 20-30, which could be George W, or it could be his brother John J. (Bladen Co, p209)

The lands are on W side of Bloody Branch and Turnbull Swamp, bordered on the south by John Downing and on the West by Cain. There is a church lot in the center of the land that is not part of the division. There is a main road passing through the middle of the land, next to the church lot. There is also an additional portion of land on SW side of Briar Branch, on Panther Branch, granted to Geo Downing 19 Nov 1833. Lot 1 (93 acres, plus 14 acres from the second tract) to M E Thompson, Lot 2 (94 acres) to Vandeline? Sewell and other Sewells, Lot 3 (30 acres) to A E Cain, Bessie Cain, and Ofelia Cain, Lot 4 (79 acres, plus 25 acres from the second tract) to W H Downing, Lot 5 (81 acres) to Albert Downing.
