Appearance in Document, 11 Oct 1697, Cecil County, Maryland Colony. 32 "Returns of John Thompson, Deputy Commissioner, Cecil County, 11 October 1697, Administration Bond of the Estate of Edward Teague, late of Cecil County, deceased, ---- Emanuel Smith who married the relict (of the) said deceased had letters of administration to him granted in right of his wife and Bemoni Clarke and Henry Peterson his securities in 80 pounds of tobacco and ordered to be filed." (Maryland Hall of Records, Annapolis MD, Testementary Proceedings of Cecil County, Book 17, p39).

2. Appearance in Document, 1699-1703, Baltimore County, Maryland Colony. 33 For the years 1699-1703, Emanuel Smith is listed on the tax list for Baltimore County.

Appearance in Document, 4 May 1702, Cecil County, Maryland Colony. 34 "The account of Emanuel Smith of Baltimore County, Administrator of Edward Teague, late of Cecil County, deceased, the administrator charges himself with the inventory thereof, 29 pounds and 10 pence, and craves allowances as follows; tobacco paid for cabin and commissioners fees, 482 pounds, (2 pounds 2 pence)." 4. Will, 24 Apr 1704, Baltimore County, Maryland Colony. Will of Emanuel Smith, Baltimore Co, Md, dated 24 Apr 1704, filed 29 Apr 1704, probated 3 Jun 1704. Mentions wife Susan Smith, son-in-law William Teage, dau-in-law Catherine and Ann Teague, brother Benjamin Smith, Daughters Martha and Mary. Lands are divided between Martha and Mary, all others receive livestock of various types. Catherine Teague is one of the witnesses. Will book 3, p235. (Md Calendar of Wills, Vol 3, p37)

5. Probate, 3 Jun 1704, Baltimore County, Maryland Colony. Will of Emanuel Smith, Baltimore Co, Md, dated 24 Apr 1704, filed 29 Apr 1704, probated 3 Jun 1704. (Md Calendar of Wills, Vol 3, p37)

6. Story. 35 Emanuel Smith married Edward Teague's widow Susan. Emanuel's will, dated 19 April 1704, and found in the Maryland Calendar of Wills, p37, refers to his step-children as son-in-law and daughters-in-law, an expression of common usage in those days. It says "To son-in-law William Teague, daughters-in-law Catherine and Ann Teage, brother Benjamin Smith personalty. Daughters Maratha and Mary at age 16, all lands equally. To wife Susan, extra personalty."
